The Dark of Memory by Paula Minton

Published in 1967

A Magnum Book

176-pages

After losing both of her parents, Lydia Turner is forced to reside with her Aunt Corrine.

Corrine moves Lydia from her beloved childhood home to New York City. There, Corrine indulges herself in New York’s finest food and entertainment. Lydia, meanwhile, quietly pursues a nursing degree.

One day, however, Lydia receives a mysterious phone call. The call sends her fleeing back to her childhood home to search for answers. There, a family secret is uncovered and Lydia’s life is threatened!

The Dark of Memory isn’t the author’s finest work. Aunt Corrine is absurdly gluttonous. And, Ms. Minton forces her own obsession with the poetry of Edwin Arlington Robinson onto the reader.

The plot is unbelievable. The characters are forgettable. Skip this book unless you’re a die-hard Paula Minton fan.
